Hyouka[2] (Japanese: 氷菓, Hepburn: Hyōka, lit. "Ice Cream/Frozen Dessert") is a 2001 Japanese mystery novel written by Honobu Yonezawa. It is the first volume of the Classic Literature Club (古典部, Koten-bu) series. Five additional volumes have been published between 2002 and 2016. A manga adaptation drawn by Taskohna began serialization in the March 2012 issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Shōnen Ace. A 22-episode anime adaptation produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto aired from April 22 to September 16, 2012. A live-action film, Hyouka: Forbidden Secrets, directed by Mari Asato and starring Kento Yamazaki and Alice Hirose was released on November 3, 2017.[3][4]

When I watched that episode, I was counting how many days it will take before you write about it, and I am glad you did! It is fascinating reading about the language differences and the differences in thoughts across culture. It is of particular interest to me that some in Japan is so apathetic that it would be a sign of love to get angry.

Next week (Episode 8) will be interesting to see, because that episode is going to be storyboarded and directed by Noriyuki Kitanohara, who has been at KyoAni since 1990. Not only that, but Yuuki Tsunoda will be the animation director, which will be his/her (let me know which) first solo effort for the show.

If the bulk of this episode was about the connections between people, the rest of it was about those divisions. With the episode so rife with people bursting into frames (and with in-your-face solo frames, of which Tani-kun is the king), the isolating shots of individual characters stand out all the more. The obvious occurrences are at the end of the episode, as Chitanda, Mayaka, and Satoshi are each wrestling along with their individual issues, but there are a number of standout moments along these lines scattered within the episode proper.

This week: a reasoning behind the lackluster episodes of Lupin III: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna, examining the depressing existence of Yuuko in Tasogare Otome x Amnesia, the new main character in Mouretsu Pirates, and why the concept of Upotte!! is quickly diminishing. Also, a new anime, Hyouka, has been added to the weekly reviews and the list has received a new order. 59ce067264
