The law and online gambling
Yeah, it’s a weird grey area. Much of it stems from the Public Gambling Act of 1867, which, as its name suggests, doesn’t mention anything digital. The rules haven’t really caught up with technology. Some states like Sikkim and Nagaland have tried to regulate it, but for the most part, it's unregulated and often hosted from outside India. There’s a good write-up that helped me understand the bigger picture: https://nenow.in/article/rupee-revolution-online-sports-economic-impact-on-india.html. It explains how legal ambiguity is hindering both proper oversight and potential economic benefits. I think that until we have a central framework, companies will continue to navigate this “legal limbo” as best they can.

I’ve seen a lot of apps popping up lately, and always wondered how they’re able to operate so publicly if the laws are still unclear. I guess it’s one of those things where tech moves faster than regulation. Probably not the first or last time we’ll see that happen. Interesting discussion—definitely got me thinking.
